My SModPlaylist For You!!!

So about a week ago I asked some of my favorite people of SMod to give me some songs for my 2013 SModPlaylist and I got question a few good songs from some of our favorite SMod Gods!! Although I didn’t get a song from the man himself, Kevin Smith I still got some good people to give me a song or two to add to the list. Hopefully at the end of next year I can get a song or two from Kevin, Jason Mewes, Jennifer Schwalbach, & the man of many voices, Ralph Garman. Anyway this SMod Playlist I have on Spotify and I will post a list of songs below. Traci Hines: The Little Mermaid

So just got done watching a hell of a music video that, if you like Disney movies like the old Disney movies we used to watch when we were younger, then you will love this. The music video is called "Part Of Your World" and is was sung but a talented women by the name of Traci Hines. I hadn't heard of Traci until I came cross a video called "Hipster Mermaid Teaser", which is a teaser for "Hipster Mermaid". Of course if you know me, you know what drew me into the video, the red hair. I swear people the end of me will be a redhead ha ha.

Anyway, this video definitely brought back memories of watching The Little Mermaid for me. Yes I've seen The Little Mermaid, I was a child of the 90s people. I thought it was shot pretty well and the setting looked magical. I mean whoever did the edit work did a damn good job. Besides all the tech stuff, I really love Traci's voice. I mean if they made a live action Disney Little Mermaid movie I would want her as Ariel. I mean they would be crazy to pass her up as Ariel.
 

Over all I feel that Traci Hines is going to have a long career in music, acting, modeling, or whatever else she does. She definitely has the following that goes far and I for one look forward to seeing what else she does.

TETB Review: The Muppets

“It's time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight”!! And that’s what I as I watched the new Muppet movie. This movie took me back to being a kid back in the 90’s watching reruns of The Muppet Show on Nickelodeon and also watching its much short lived spin off show Muppets Tonight and its long lived spin off show The Muppet Babies. I remember being so excited when these shows came on; I would grab a snack, my Kermit watch, and any other Muppet item I had and sit in front of the television, not knowing that sitting so close to the tv would mess up my eye site, and just taking in all the comedy goodness. So when I watched this new Muppet movie I six again.

 

The Muppets is about three friends who travel to Los Angeles to see the old Muppet Studios but when they get there they learn the studio is being sold to an evil greedy oil tycoon, they seek the help of The Muppets themselves to put on one last show to raise ten million dollars to save the studio. I thought this was a good idea for a main plot seeing as the show its self has been off the air for years!! Plus it’s a Muppet movie so you know celebrities are coming out the wazoo with cameos like Jack Black, Donald Glover, Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Silverman, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, and a lot more. The main stars, besides The Muppets, are Jason Segel , Amy Adams , Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones.

 Now there is only one or two things I didn’t like about this film and both things are pretty small, but where is Rizzo the Rat and how come we don’t see more of Pepe the King Prawn? I loved those guys growing up and thought they were the funniest Muppets around so why weren’t they in the movie more? That was the only thing that really bothered me about this flick.

I really liked the use of CGI used in this movie for the Muppets. You get to see them do a lot more than just hop around with no leg bottoms to them. I mean they got to do a lot of different things in this you would never see them do without the technology. For example, there is a scene where Walter, the main Muppet of this movie, has a dream that the Muppets ask him to come join the show. They hop out the tv, CG versions of them, and hop back in asking him if he want to join them. This had to be one of my favorite moments in the flick.

 Of course it’s not a Muppet movie without musical numbers and the music in this was awesome.  With big dance numbers, new songs, and old classics this movie had me dancing in my seat. Like I said earlier this had me thinking I was six again. The one song that got to me was "Man or Muppet", written by Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Concords. This not only tugged at my heart but also kind of brought a tear to my eye. You see in this song you see Gray (Segel) and Walter deal with being who they are a part, whether they can be men or Muppets.

Over all I give this film a good rating and enjoyable to watch with you family or friends. I do hope one day they bring more Muppet movies out or hell even a new tv show. I wouldn’t mind watching The New Muppet Show every night.

Another Legend Gone

August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012

That’s right; another legend of music is gone. Whitney Houston died today at the age of 48. Oh this hit me hard in the heart, like a car hitting a wall at full speed.  I remember growing up and not really being into Whitney’s music but respected her as an artist, actress, and singer. Doesn’t matter what she was going through in her personal life, doesn’t matter if people thought she was crazy or messed up on drugs. What matters is that she lived a full life doing what she loved to do and I hope I can even do half the things she’s done in life. This is truly a big bucket of wind people.

 

Now for those who don’t know much about her here are a few details.   Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born August 9, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey to John Russell Houston, Jr. an Army serviceman and entertainment executive, and gospel singer Cissy Houston. Whitney was the youngest of three children in her home In New Jersey. Most people know her best by her music as she did put out records and songs that would top the charts such as "I Will Always Love You”, from the hit movie The Bodyguard which she also starred in. She also starred in Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher's Wife, and the live action remake Disney movie Cinderella. Whitney was also married to Bobby Brown from July 18^th, 1992 to April 24, 2007; she leaves behind one daughter by the name of Bobbi Kristina Brown.

 

This year has lost a lot of people this year but this one for me hits home. Not only is she from the north like I, but she helped me discover music in many ways. Whitney, Miss Houston, thanks you for everything you have giving us in this world. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the wonderful; rest in peace.
